Little Things Family Flip Album

CarolynCircle2

Hello everyone! Have you picked up some flip albums? They are so fun to make I just had to put one together as a gift for a family member. The albums come with several spaces to place photos and journaling as well as clear stickers and gold photo corners.

These albums are perfect to display and fun to flip through. This is the image that is visible when someone flips up the cover of my album. We had our family pictures taken in the fall which made a consistent theme for the album.

Below the previous picture is this pocket with a slide out card. I decorated the pocket with stickers and pasted a sentiment on the slide out from the One Big Happy Family kit.

When the pocket is flipped up, this is visible underneath. I used another sentiment from the One Big Happy Family kit.

flip6PH

The third layer looks like this. I used heart stickers from the Panda 2″ Sticker Sheets.

This layer opens to show a spot for journaling.

The back of the third layer has enough room for two pictures. How cute are these kiddos?!

Thanks so much for taking a look here and feel free to stop by my personal blog here: Carolyn Johnson. Have a great day!

Here We Go Layout- Let Freedom Ring DC

KattyCircle2Hello friends, Katty here. Today I am sharing a layout using the Let Freedom Ring Washington DC Paper Crafting Kit. I am scrapping a few photos from a trip I took with a good friend of mine to Washington DC in 2011. This was our first time visiting DC. The pictures I am using were taken on the airplane as we were arriving. We had such a great weekend exploring the city and all of the museums.

I chose a large globe cut file from the Silhouette Studio and cut it out using one of the burgundy patterned papers from the kit. I backed the cut file with a chevron navy patterned paper. I placed it to the left of the page and used dimensional foam to raise it.

FullSizeRender 15 copy

For my background, I used a mustard yellow patterned paper with a star pattern on it. I layered my three photos to the right of the globe, I printed them in black and white.

I added a few embellishments from the sticker sheet around my photos. I also scattered some of the stars around the page.

FullSizeRender 18 copy

For my tittle, I used letter stickers from the sticker sheet as well. As a finishing touch I added some faux stitching around the cut file with a white jelly roll pen.

This was a fun page to create. This collection is perfect for capturing those DC memories.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! XOXO -Katty

Do you have tons of photos from a vacation that will never make it onto a scrapbook layout – this is an area where I think the Flip Albums are super handy!  I was never going to make enough layouts to use all the pictures I liked from this vacation, but I was able to get enough into the Flip Album that I covered it well!  I changed up the cover of my Flip Album to personalize it!

Rather than show you a whole slew of pictures of the album I put together a quick video walk thru of it!

Now quick, run out and grab one of these fun albums to play with and decorate!

Paradise in a Bottle Scrapbook Layout

Renee Timmerman Circle2Hey Everyone! Renee back again with a great page using the new Paradise Found Collection! There’s a few variations of this collection and I kind of meshed them all up to develop this page!  You’d think in the middle of Iowa, I wouldn’t have any use for these collections really. I’m landlocked and with no plans for a great paradise vacation but I thought of something fun which I hope you enjoy!

Paradise in a Bottle Layout Supplies: Paradise Found Florida Collection12×12 Cardstock Stickers, Paradise Found Puffy StickersEmbrace Today Planner Stickers

I recently tried a new Pineapple Shandy beer from Traveler called “Aloha”  and it’s so delightfully tasty! Reminds me of summer in a bottle! I took a picture of this treat and it occurred to me that I could totally use the new Paradise Found collection to capture this moment.

closeupbeach2

I fussy cut the cute flowers out of one of the papers to create some festive embellishments. I also enjoyed having so many stickers to use with this collection. The kit comes with 12×12 of stickers as well as a set of puffy stickers. I had to throw as many fun ones on as I could. I also used the cut aparts to place my title as well as layering.

closeupbeach

I loved being able to make a summer/paradise page out of something simple like my beer that I enjoy and makes me feel all about summer! Sometimes you have to look outside the box instead of just what pictures you’d assume go with the collection catergory at hand!  I hope you enjoyed the page!! Paper House “Went Wild” at the 2017 Go Wild Planner Conference

We just got back from Nashville for the 2017 Go Wild Planners Conference and it was, in a word, AMAZING! This was the planning event’s second year, and it is quickly becoming one of the largest gathering of planning enthusiasts in the country. This year, Opryland hosted over 700 attendees.

Screenshot 2017-05-02 at 8.40.51 AM

While it’s always great to see what people are making and get inspiration for our own projects, the event was so much more than that. It demonstrates the strong community of planner enthusiasts, and it’s a chance for them to come together and celebrate their work. In just three short years, their Facebook group already has over 39,000 members (and counting!). This year, tickets for the conference sold out in all of three minutes. We made tons of new friends, and it was reaffirming to see the support of the community.

That’s not to mention all the awesome swag. Michael’s donated a huge bag of some of the great products they carry, including a Fiskar’s punch and an Instax camera, and don’t even get us started on all the great stickers and washi!

Screenshot 2017-05-02 at 8.39.44 AM

Using planners is more than just keeping track of your to-do list. They help us engage with our lives, and break down our aspirations into manageable tasks and actions so we can make them happen. We were most inspired by Michelle Carter, an Olympic gold medalist and conference keynote. During her empowering talk, she spoke about how planners have helped her to overcome life’s setbacks, to organize her goals, and to focus on the daily actions she needed to take to reach those goals.

The power of planners comes from writing down your goals and dreams and creating actionability. We were so inspired by this year’s conference, and we hope to see you at the next one!

National Scrapbook Day – Hour Nine – Giveaway!

Hour Nine:  Happy National Scrapbook Day!  This is the very last post for today! Today we are celebrating all things Scrapbooking related!  Each hour we will be sharing a new post with some inspiration combining Paper House products and our designer’s favorite techniques!

Of course we can’t have a celebration without a giveaway or two!  Stay tuned at the end of the post to find out what we’re giving away!  Now let’s hear from Renee!

Renee Timmerman Circle2Hi Everyone!! Renee here, I am so excited about National Scrapbooking Day!I wanted to show you guys one of , well- two of- my favorite techniques which of course- are layering and clustering embellishments. I’m not even sure what I love about it, maybe it’s that I can use so much of my stuff and don’t have to pick when making a page! Or also the fact I can be creative and make anything in to an embellishment. I am the last one who gets to share a little about my crafty habits today – here you go!

What’s your favorite type of paper crafting? My favorite type of paper crafting is simply doing 12×12 pages. I just love all the space and different ways I can take it with creativity!
Where do you go for inspiration? I usually go to Instagram for inspiration. There’s so many creative people out there and I love being inspired by their work in a million different ways. I also am often inspired by a collection in general- reminds me of pictures I haven’t thought of in a while.
Where do you do your crafting?  I craft often just in bed. I bring my rolly carts on over, turn on the T.V. and get comfy with my blankets; then go to town.
What are your favorite crafting tools? My favorite crafting tools are probably Scrapbook Adhesive, various products as well as my Silhouette Cameo.

What are your favorite Paper House products? I love the Paper House Collection Cut Apart Sheets- I use them as embellishments or in my pocket scrapbooking page. There’s so many ways to utilize them!
What are your favorite colors to work with? I am drawn to anything bright and colorful! Makes me happy!
How would you describe your crafting style? A hot mess. That’s how I would describe it, I seem to just like to use as much as I can while still trying to feature the picture/item on the page.
Do you like it quiet while you work or do you have music or tv on? I am always watching TV even though, I have to rewind it often to actually pay attention. It’s how I get through my DVR list and get my work done at the same time.
What’s your go to snack/drink while you craft? I don’t think I have a particular go-to; give me all the foods.

familypage

For this layout I used the Paper House line, One Big Happy Family to document this early picture of my sister’s family. I love this picture so much and the fact it was already in sepia tones- made it easy to work with this line.  I layered behind the photo with different cut aparts along with forming clusters with stickers and fussy cutting of some of the papers.  On the bottom of the page, I cut the border from the cut apart sheet along with a little of another page layered them together to place behind a paper I fussy ripped on the top. I couldn’t stop with my little clusters so I added some on both sides of the bottom segment of the page.  I just can’t get enough!! I love utilizing as much as I can of my supplies and this is the best way I know how!

National Scrapbook Day – Hour Eight – Giveaway

Hour Eight: Happy National Scrapbook Day!

Now let’s hear from Shannon!

Shannon Circle2Hooray for layers! Wait, you don’t like layers? Or you like layers, but don’t know where to begin? Look no further. There are so many layering gurus in the world of paper crafting..and it can be really overwhelming to look at all of them and not feel like yours adds up. Guess what?!? Comparison is the thief of joy, so know that your layers rock too! Don’t be afraid to add layers to your layouts and cards. I’m going to show you how – but first let me share about myself!

What’s your favorite type of paper crafting? Layouts, but you wouldn’t know it, I’m pretty out of practice. I have spent the better part of two years creating tons of cards.
Where do you go for inspiration? I am a huge fan of color and music. I love moodboards, I check out Pinterest and Instagram just to look at things.
Where do you do your crafting? Currently, the kitchen table, the plus side: Great view of my magical backyard…the downside: it’s really cumbersome to pack everything up every day or make piles and put it aside. It’s ok, I know that my scrap space is in the works…well potentially. Ha!
What are your favorite crafting tools? Pens. Of all kinds. Also…I’d be lost without my stapler. It’s a sad, banged up stapler, but it’s super reliable and always comes through for me. 🙂
What are your favorite Paper House products? That’s a tough one. There are so many great Paper House products. I can’t narrow it down much more than the paper kits (because duh, there’s paper, stickers and puffy stickers in most of them!)
What are your favorite colors to work with? Aqua, gray, white, green, red, pink (even though I don’t like to wear it) and oranges
How would you describe your crafting style? Messy, but organized. Eclectic and loud also seem to stick out in my mind also when I think of my crafting style.
Do you like it quiet while you work or do you have music or tv on? I detest having the tv on when I am creating. I feel like it causes an enormous block. I am a music person. To the core. Music can fix everything. Music can bring me to tears, I am very inspired by music of all kinds.
What’s your go to snack/drink while you craft? Um, coffee..coffee keeps me sane.

I took a bunch of pictures showing you how I built the layers in my layout. I used the new Southwest Adventure Paper Crafting Kit for this layout featuring my daughter and her two dear friends:

PHP LAYERING by the NUMBERS, Shannon MYou’ll find it gets easier and easier to build layers as you grow comfortable with them, or create your own “formula”.

Here’s a look at the finished layout. You’ll see that it’s a simple layout in design, I am a simple scrapper by nature, but I like to add a lot of details.

National Scrapbook Day – Hour Seven – Giveaway

Hour Seven: Happy National Scrapbook Day!

Now let’s hear from Samantha!
—————————————————————————————————

Samantha Taylor HS Circle 2Medium Size

Happy NSD!  Samantha with you to share some tips for a technique I use on almost every layout; mixing and matching patterned papers.  But before we dive into that, I get to share a little about myself and my crafty habits!

What’s your favorite type of paper crafting? I really love creating mini albums! I make them in any size out of just about anything.
Where do you go for inspiration? I like to look at home decor and interior decorator sites (especially on Pinterest) for color combo inspiration. I’ve found the fashion industry is also a great place to find current trends in colors and textures.
Where do you do your crafting? I am truly thankful to have a room dedicated to my crafting. It’s stuffed full of lots of re-purposed and second hand storage options.
What are your favorite crafting tools? All of them! I am a tool junkie. I love trying out new tools as well as using lots of old tried and true ones.
What are your favorite Paper House products? The Puffy Stickers. These are not the puffy stickers of your childhood! They are whimsical and rich looking, and just so fun!
What are your favorite colors to work with? I tend to gravitate towards blues and greens.
How would you describe your crafting style? My style tends to be clean and simple. I also like to watch current trends and blend them into my style.
Do you like it quiet while you work or do you have music or tv on? I love to have Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon on in the background. Have any good series suggestions for me?
What’s your go to snack/drink while you craft? I tend not to snack when I craft, but I do love coffee anytime.

Just like any technique, some people are pros at it without ever thinking about how they do it, some people love it after some practice, and some people will decide it’s just not for them. No matter what your experience level is with mixing and matching patterned papers, I’d love to hear about (and see!) your experiences with this technique.

Supplies: ONe Big Happy Family 12″ Paper PadOne Big Happy Family Mixed Card PackEveryday Moments LabelsFamily Planner Stickers

If you’re new to mixing and matching patterned papers, the best thing to do is stick to one paper collection (like I did here by using One Big Happy Family). As you get more comfortable working with lots of patterned papers at once, you can pull papers from multiple collections.

The second thing to look for is a patterned “neutral”. Here my patterned neutral is the woodgrain paper. It’s manly one color, with no big bold patterns on it. A patterned neutral  will help ground your layout and keep things from looking too busy.

The third thing I always try to find is a patterned paper that has all of the colors of the other papers and embellishments you plan to use in it. It will help tie everything together and will make your layout look cohesive instead of disjointed. On this layout, the blue patterned paper is the paper that serves in that capacity.

Play around with the order of your layers. I pull out all the papers I’m thinking about using and I start to layer them up in different piles. I pull out or add papers based on how I think they look together. For example, on this layout I tried the blue patterned paper on top, and I tried the red patterned paper on top. For whatever reason, the red paper looked wrong on top, but fantastic underneath the blue paper.

A

Finally, don’t be afraid to use your embellishments to tie all your patterns together even more. I used label stickers from Everyday Moments Labels to pull more pinks and reds into the layout, which in turn helped the red patterned paper layer pop a bit more.

National Scrapbook Day – Hour Six – Giveaway

Hour Six: Happy National Scrapbook Day!  Today we are celebrating all things Scrapbooking related!  Each hour we will be sharing a new post with some inspiration combining Paper House products and our designer’s favorite techniques!

———————————————————————————————————
melinda-beltran2 circle

Hello crafty friends, Melinda here and I am thrilled to be sharing my scrapbook layout with you today. My favorite technique that I am sharing with you is creating paper flowers. I have been enjoying reading about the other designers – how about you?  Here’s how I answered these fun questions!

What’s your favorite type of paper crafting?
For me, it is a toss up between scrapbooking layouts and cards. I really enjoy both!
Where do you go for inspiration? I find my inspiration often times when driving to work. Of course, I love to look at Design Seeds color swatches!
Where do you do your crafting? About 95% of my crafting is done in my home studio.
What are your favorite crafting tools? I would have to say my favorite tool is my die cutting machine.
What are your favorite Paper House products? This is a tough one…I think it is a toss up between their 3D stickers and of course the paper.
What are your favorite colors to work with? Pink, Teal and Black…Love them…they make me happy!
How would you describe your crafting style? Classic. I love all genres though. I enjoy seeing all the different types. I am amazed at how well executed a clean and simple card can be as well as a rich layout dripping with multi-media elements!
Do you like it quiet while you work or do you have music or tv on? When crafting, I usually have music and or watch something on Netflix!
What’s your go to snack/drink while you craft? I’m a southern girl now…originally from Michigan, but LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my tea! That and almost any type of snack food!

Paper House Sliced Life Floral Scrapbook Layout

Scrapbook Layout Supplies: Paper House Sliced-Love Paper Pad

These gorgeous papers are from the Paper House Sliced Paper Pad. I am a Paper Pad Junky!  I love that the professionals have taken the time to coordinate the papers in the pad for us already! This makes doing our layouts so much easier! We were asked to show what we love doing and for me, it’s creating the paper flowers.

Paper House Sliced Life Floral Scrapbook Layout

This sentiment was perfect for this layout. It is part of the paper pad. I simply cut it out and inked the edges with a little brown ink.

Paper House Sliced Life Floral Scrapbook Layout

I fussy cut this pretty gold foiled banner out of one of the pieces of paper from the paper pad.

Flourished svg circle medallion

I cut this pretty decorative die cut element out of some plain white cardstock. I trimmed it along the edge o the base paper. I added that perfect little sicker embellishment to the center. It came just like that. I only added a foam square underneath to give it a little extra dimension.

Gold Painted SVG Butterfly Die Cut

Here’s a closer look at one of the butterfly die cuts. Again, I cut these out of plain white cardstock. I then sponged some gold paint onto them and when they were almost dry I shaped the wings to give them a little dimension. I used some glue dots along the bottom of the center only so they would be strongly adhered to the paper but allow me to shape and lift the wings.

Paper House Sliced Floral Scrapbook Layout

Now for one of my FAVORITE THINGS to do when crafting and creating….making FLOWERS!  Yep, I love creating paper flowers. I have said many, many times on other blog posts, that I am not a green thumb by any stretch and the only flowers I seem to be able to grow well are paper flowers!!!!

Paper House SVG Paper Flower Dimensional Roses

Here’s a closer look at the flowers. I designed the SVG die cut file for these flowers. I then cut out a total of 7 layers in graduated sizes. I then layer them together and stagger each layer slightly. I then inked the edges just slightly with a red ink. Then I shaped the petals.

For the little white flowers, I cut them out of plain white cardstock and then lightly inked the edges with some light blue ink. I finished off my flowers with some blue gems for the white flowers and some brown gems for the red ones.

As a small token I would love to share the Flower File I created that I used to make my flowers!
