How to Mix Embellishments to Create Texture

Hello! Samantha with you today to share a layout using embellishments from my favorite new planner collection, Great Outdoors. Mixing embellishments to create texture is a fun way to add interest to any layout.

These new Stick On Pockets are one of my favorite ways to add texture to layouts. They’re a bit plastic-y (so they’re strong) which also gives them a bit of a vellum look. For and even more interesting look, I layered up 2 pockets on top of each other.

The grouping pictured above mixes patterns already printed on the patterned paper, rice paper border stickers, planner card stock stickers, and epoxy stickers to create a cluster of embellishments that’s visually interesting and draws you into the layout.

Carrying a mix of embellishments (epoxy, card stock, puffy, etc.) throughout the layout helps keep the layout looking cohesive. Craft Set Welcome Sign

Hello! Samantha with you again. Today I’m showing you one of my favorite ways to use Paper House’s Craft Sets. Read on to find out what that is and how I made this welcome sign.

Paper House Supplies: Baby Boy Craft Set, Southwest Clear Stickers

Additional Supplies: Paint, Apple barrel lid

I built my welcome sign from an apple barrel lid that I picked up from my local farmers market for $5. I only bought one, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be going back for more now! I put a single coat of white paint on the lid, and then it was all set for me to embellish.

Now, on to my favorite way to use these beautiful craft sets: die cut them with an electronic cutting machine! I used a Silhouette Cameo, but you could do it just as easily with a Cricut machine.

I treated the big sticker sheets just like I would vinyl. I created my “Welcome” in my Silhouette Studio Software. Then I placed the sticker sheet on a cutting mat. Finally, I set my blade speed and depth to the same settings I use for cutting vinyl.

When you’re done cutting, weed out the unused portions of the sticker sheet. You can then transfer your cut by hand or with a transfer sheet (like the kind you use for wall vinyl) to your project.

I finished up my welcome sign with a few accent stickers from the Southwest Clear Sticker set.

Being able to cut the sticker sheets with an electronic die cutting machine opens up a whole world of possibilities for these fun craft sets. I know this craft set welcome sign is just the beginning for me! Save

Sometimes Sympathy…

Shannon Circle2Let’s be honest for a second, there’s a subject that memory keepers and moment documenters kind of dance around, or have a hard time sharing, and that is death. It’s a memory no one cherishes or likes to address. It’s necessary though, because it’s part of life. The point is, simple kindnesses like I’m sorry/thinking of you/sending prayers and sympathy cards can mean all the difference in a grieving person or persons day.  Shannon joining you today to share a sympathy card created combining Paper House Products and a stamp from My Sentiments Exactly.

PHP:MSE Blog Post, Shannon M.

I’m glad that companies like MSE (My Sentiments Exactly) make stamps for this purpose. MSE has clear stamps and the more traditional wood stamps, there truly is something for everyone! They created a really beautiful sentiment stamp that I used along with some Paper House Productions products to create a sympathy card.

The picture doesn’t really touch upon on all the gold, and while gold may not be a traditional mourning color, it is a celebration of someone’s life and hope for those left here to grieve. I see nothing wrong with sending “love and light” someone’s way. Smiles are what actually make the world go ’round. Here’s a better shot of all the details.

Have a great week, thanks for letting me share with you!  ❤

National Scrapbook Day – Hour Eight – Giveaway

Hour Eight: Happy National Scrapbook Day!  Today we are celebrating all things Scrapbooking related!  Each hour we will be sharing a new post with some inspiration combining Paper House products and our designer’s favorite techniques!

Of course we can’t have a celebration without a giveaway or two!  Stay tuned at the end of the post to find out what we’re giving away!  Now let’s hear from Shannon!

Shannon Circle2Hooray for layers! Wait, you don’t like layers? Or you like layers, but don’t know where to begin? Look no further. There are so many layering gurus in the world of paper crafting..and it can be really overwhelming to look at all of them and not feel like yours adds up. Guess what?!? Comparison is the thief of joy, so know that your layers rock too! Don’t be afraid to add layers to your layouts and cards. I’m going to show you how – but first let me share about myself!

What’s your favorite type of paper crafting? Layouts, but you wouldn’t know it, I’m pretty out of practice. I have spent the better part of two years creating tons of cards.
Where do you go for inspiration? I am a huge fan of color and music. I love moodboards, I check out Pinterest and Instagram just to look at things.
Where do you do your crafting? Currently, the kitchen table, the plus side: Great view of my magical backyard…the downside: it’s really cumbersome to pack everything up every day or make piles and put it aside. It’s ok, I know that my scrap space is in the works…well potentially. Ha!
What are your favorite crafting tools? Pens. Of all kinds. Also…I’d be lost without my stapler. It’s a sad, banged up stapler, but it’s super reliable and always comes through for me. 🙂
What are your favorite Paper House products? That’s a tough one. There are so many great Paper House products. I can’t narrow it down much more than the paper kits (because duh, there’s paper, stickers and puffy stickers in most of them!)
What are your favorite colors to work with? Aqua, gray, white, green, red, pink (even though I don’t like to wear it) and oranges
How would you describe your crafting style? Messy, but organized. Eclectic and loud also seem to stick out in my mind also when I think of my crafting style.
Do you like it quiet while you work or do you have music or tv on? I detest having the tv on when I am creating. I feel like it causes an enormous block. I am a music person. To the core. Music can fix everything. Music can bring me to tears, I am very inspired by music of all kinds.
What’s your go to snack/drink while you craft? Um, coffee..coffee keeps me sane.

I took a bunch of pictures showing you how I built the layers in my layout. I used the new Southwest Adventure Paper Crafting Kit for this layout featuring my daughter and her two dear friends:

PHP LAYERING by the NUMBERS, Shannon MYou’ll find it gets easier and easier to build layers as you grow comfortable with them, or create your own “formula”.

Here’s a look at the finished layout. You’ll see that it’s a simple layout in design, I am a simple scrapper by nature, but I like to add a lot of details.

Click Flip Album & Video Tutorial

my-bio-picHello Paper House friends! Katty here, back to share a fun project with you all. Today, I am working with the Click Flip Album. This album is so much fun to work with. There are several different styles of the Flip Album available.  These albums have an easel stand so they can be easily displayed. They are perfect for displaying fun memories or to be given as gifts. I love the Click version that I am working with today. It has a jewel tone color scheme which I think is so fun.

Click Album Supply List:

These Flip Albums bring a clear sticker sheet as well as some gold foil photo corners. They make the perfect embellishments. I decided to use photos from a day trip my boyfriend and I took to the Grand Canyon. We were visiting Las Vegas and decided to take an airplane tour of the Canyon. It was absolutely breathtaking. I printed some of my favorite photos from that day and also pulled out the Southwest Adventure Paper Crafting Kit.

FullSizeRender 12

I kept my cover very simple by mixing a few elements from the Click Sticker sheet and some words that I fussy cut from the Southwest Collection. FullSizeRender 5

This Album has space for a lot of photos. I love how interactive it is. It is just fun to flip through and discover all of the flaps.

I continued throughout the album combining the sticker sheet that came with the album and the Southwest Collection. I even incorporated the Feathers Acetate sheet. I also added in some of the Succulent and Dreamcatcher 2″ Stickers.FullSizeRender 11Although the color schemes from the Click album and the Southwest collection are different I think they came together very nicely. They were perfect for my Grand Canyon theme. FullSizeRender 14

This album was a lot of fun to create. I hope you’ll check out the Flip Albums and try them out.

There is a video tutorial on my channel if you’d like to see my process.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! XOXO -Katty

Road Trip Adventure Flip Album

samantha-taylor-hs-medium-size

Hello! Samantha here today with another mini album. This time I have one of Paper House’s new Flip Albums to share. These small, free standing mini albums are a really fun way to scrap a small event or trip. I’m scrapping a weekend trip to Omaha with the Adventure Flip Album.

Supplies:

Not all adventures take you far and wide. The adventure I used this Flip Album to scrap is one of our favorite summer road trips. We head out about 2 1/2 hours away from our house to Omaha, NE to spend a few days exploring. Omaha has the best zoo, and lots of other fun things to do, too.

The Flip Albums come with an album, a set of matching stickers, and a set of matching photo corners. The photo corners are great used traditionally, but you can also use them as page embellishments. The silver triangles on the top of the page in the photo above are actually the photo corners.

I found that the cardstock stickers from Southwest Adventure went really well with the colors in the Adventure Flip Album, and some of the stickers like “epic” were perfect for the theme of my album. You can also add the clear stickers included with the album to the pre-pre printed sayings on the pages to add touches of  your own style.

Besides lots of room for photos, there’s also some dedicated space for journaling. Since we take this trip almost every summer, it was more than enough space for me to tell my story!

I love that I now have these memories scrapped in this fun road trip Adventure Flip Album. What adventure will you scrap with one of Paper House’s Flip Albums?
